Langley Community Brass

Langley Community Brass (LCB) is Langley Band’s open-access community group — a relaxed, non-contesting band that meets fortnightly and welcomes brass and percussion players of all ages and abilities, from complete beginners to experienced musicians looking for a lower-pressure playing environment.

Founded in 2016 to strengthen Langley Band’s ties with the local community and to invest in new and developing players, LCB gives players a chance to come together, learn, and perform without the intensity of contest preparation. Whether you played years ago and want to pick your instrument back up, or you’re new to brass entirely, there’s a place for you here.

The group rehearses fortnightly on Saturdays 1400–1600 at Langley Band’s bandroom in the Black Country and takes part in performances throughout the year, including community and charity events across the West Midlands.

LCB is led by Musical Director Saphran Ali, who has helped guide the band since its founding, bringing an approachable, encouraging style well suited to players of all levels — from complete beginners through to returning musicians finding their way back to brass.

New players are always welcome — no audition required. If you’d like to come along and see what it’s about, get in touch and we’ll let you know when the next rehearsal is.
